St Bernard Composites Ltd (SBCL) Continues to invest in its modern 7500sqm factory designed for the manufacture of advanced composite structures.

Advanced Manufacturing programmes have been used to drive continuous improvement within SBCL. Saber 2000 is an in-house programme, supported with lean manufacturing and Masterclass training from the UK Lean Aerospace Initiative.

    Within it’s ‘State of the Art’ Farnborough UK based
    manufacturing factory, SBLC uses a wide range of equipment including:
     
  • 6 fully computer controlled autoclaves
  • 10 Fully computer controlled curing ovens
  • 2 Computer controlled pre-preg cutting machines
  • Automated adhesive reticulation machine
  • 10 compression and transfer moulding presses ranging from 75 tonnes to 400 tonnes
  • Extensive (800sqm) clean room with controlled environment.
  • 6 CNC 3 and 5 axis routers for component trimming
  • Fully automated metal treatment line
  • Paint spraying facilities
  • Automated silicon elastomer potting
  • Ultrasonic water jet A-Scan and fully automated C-Scan NDT
  • Computer controlled measuring (CMM)
  • Full laboratory services

    A large cleanroom, built to international standards is at the heart of the operation, and our integrated process teams for curing, machining, finishing and logistic supply.
    Capacity is ensured through the continued investment strategy of SBCL to meet the build rates required from its program time commitments.
